Water Leaking behind toilet

Thought this was worth sharing as many may have the problem and not be aware.

Problem: Water Leak

Symptoms:
1. Water pools behind toilet
2. Water runs along bathroom floor
3. Water spills from underbelly of RV when level of RV is changed

Resolution:
1. Check and repair cold water pipes connections
2. Check and repair toilet flush hardware

Additional Notes:
- I have owned two new Coleman 297RE (Dutchmen) in the past 12 months. Both have experienced this problem. Units were manufactured and sold as 2013 and 2014
- In both cases I am using a water pressure restriction device so pressure is well below manufacturers requirement.
- I originally noticed the problem when attaching my RV to tow vehicle, some water would drain from the underbelly (I have an enclosed & insulated belly). Only noticed this symptom since it have not rained for a few months. Appear that the water leaks behind toilet and spills into underbelly through the hole made for the toilet in the floor.

Not meaning to offend mind you but as an old smoke eater fire captain I made sure my crew took a hands on approach to cleaning our apparatus. Meaning, a bucket of soapy water and a sponge to clean the vehicles and a chamois to dry them. With the hands on approach anything that was loose was detected, any rust streaks were seen, anything broken was found.

It might be a little anal but I wash my floor and vacuum carpets on my hands and knees. Up close and personal to all those things that can potentially will happen.

Hi Sundancer, not certain how I would have been offended, so no need to worry. The photo I published is from my brand new Coleman, in my possession for less than a week. If you are commenting on dust then yes, this appears to be left from the manufacturing process, the apparent staining (in the photo) is most probably from the crumby picture taken by my phone, trying desperately to get my arm around the toilet for a photo.

The key message and point of my posting is to notify others that there are some new models that may have manufacturing defects that are challenging to locate and may present as other symptoms.

Nope, not the dust or staining. I was just saying that sometimes one has to get down and dirty, hands and knees to find these little problems and it's easy to do while cleaning the unit.

That problem could be with any unit anyway, PEX crimps, worn crimping tools and blind installers.

The plumbing in the picture could also have a check or rather a vac break for the toilet. There
May also be for the shower or sink
