Question Water Filter ideas & recs

Hi all! We've taken the summer off, but are ready to start camping now that we're expecting a bit cooler weather here in the south.

It's time for me to replace my external in-line water filter. Previously, I've used the Camco TastePure filter, purchased from WalMart. When I went in to get a replacement, they had several other options, and now I've decided it's time to do a little more research. I searched the forums here, but couldn't find any in-depth info, or sharing of filter use.

The Camco notes a 20-micron sediment filter, but is that really enough? If I buy a 1-micron filter, then the price is nearly double. Is that worth it? Do I need one that good?

I typically tote my own drinking water, but obviously don't want to be messing up my water-heater or pipes with bad water if it needs to be filtered.

As always, the expertise of the members of this forum are greatly appreciated!

I always utilize a filter for my incoming water and use a zerowater device for drinking water, coffee water and ice as well as cooking. I recently purchased RVGUARD Inline RV Water Filter, NSF Certified, Reduces Odors, Bad Taste, Rust, Chlorine, Ideal for RV and Marine use, 4 Pack. It was on Amazon and the price was right! About 35 bucks for a four pack and I think they are better than the camco stuff. By the way, I also utilize a 10,000 grain water softener which I dearly love!

Water filter

Hi, I have had real good luck with the Clear2/o water filters. You can back flush it or take it out and wash it. Also you can replace the cartridge when it is no longer effective.

I believe the Cameco is good enough for the water hose going in the camper. You just want to keep sediment out at that point. Then on my kitchen faucet, I use a PUR 1 micron water filter for making coffee and tea.

I use the same type capeharj, but a two stage, one white filter and the second carbon. Cheap and effective.

Yes, the two stage gets rid of the particulates and the carbon gets rid of the bad taste and smell.

Filter

I’m seeing this discussion about filters and all are inline. Are there any inside the rig? I’ve looked every place in my 2020 Kodiak I would think it would be.

There is practically no way you would have a filter on a rig from the factory
