Power awning - fabric just tore

I have a power awning and my fabric just tore. I've cut it off the trailer and the roller. Will I be able to push the arms back against the trailer and secure them or will I need to take them off until I get new a new awning installed?

Generally, the fabric hold the arms against the trailer side when rolled up. The awning arms are spring loaded outward to hold the fabric tight when open.

You may have to tie the arms in for travel.

I would secure both ends or remove the awning completely. I recently had to secure both ends as well since the motor arm was broken due to high winds. I also used 5d strips of gorilla tape on the broken arm to secure it, just keep the tape on the arm and not on the rv.
