Mystery Wire Coleman Light LX 1855RB

Hello, just wondering if there is anyone that has a Coleman Light LX 1855RB or similar? We bought a 2020 Coleman Light LX 1855RB this year (It was new old stock). We used it for the summer season with no real issues and are about to put it in storage for the winter. When I removed the propane tanks I noticed the wire below just hanging out. It looks like a ground that was never hooked up. For now I just taped up the end. Does anyone have a pic of this hooked up or know what it is for? I tried tracing it back to the electrical box but still not sure what it is for.

You can always put your meter on it to see if it is an actual ground wire.

Thanks for the reply. My electrical knowledge is somewhat limited and I typically rely on wiring diagrams which I know typically do not exist for campers.

I do have a meter, what is the safeest way to test if it is a groing wire?

Would it be to set to ohms and one end on the negative battery post and the other end to the end of the wire?

On second thought I am making this too complicated. I can use my test light connected to the positive on the battery and probe the wire to see if it is ground.

Yep, very good idea.

How big is the wire? Could it be for a lamp for the propane area? What color is the insulation?

Since new my Aerolite has had a wire dangling near the battery connections. It was never connected and and still is not. It is too short to reach the battery connectors so I left it disconnected. Everything works, so I taped the end and left it alone. The techs that have worked on it have never mentioned it or reconnected it. Trailer is now three years old and everything works fine. I think I will leave well enough alone.

Test loose wire

Measure voltage to any good ground or negative battery post. If zero volts, check ohm reading to ground. Less than one ohm is probably ground.

A picture is worth a 1000 words.

We've owned our Coleman Light 2021 version of the 1855RB since June. We do not have any loose wires hanging from the propane tanks / hitch area, so our wires seem to have been connected as they should be.
