Mystery Sewer Smell
Just thought I'd share my experience on here, in case it can help someone that is having the same issue I was. I bought a 2014 Denali 2461RK (though I'm sure the issue isn't model specific). A few trips after purchasing our new trailer we started smelling sewer gas in the trailer all the time, enough that we would keep the bathroom doors closed to contain the smell as best as possible. The dealer (Meridian RV) was no help in sourcing the cause nor solving the issue. I called Dutchmen (Keystone) and talked with them, but only received advice to make sure the water traps were full and to add deodorant to the tanks (these are things I had already checked/done so they were of no help to me). I thought maybe the smell was coming in via the bathroom fan, as the roof vent for the toilet is nearby, so I closed the fan cover, but now difference was noticed. I was almost at my wits end but my last attempt to solve the problem myself, before taking it to a different dealer to have them inspect the black tank, was to remove the toilet and see if there was a foam/wax seal that was missing. That wasn't the issue BUT I saw the toilet flange (connects the toilet to the floor/tank) was cracked in 4 spots, from what I can only guess as due to being over tightened to the floor. I replaced this $10 part and problem solved. No more stinky trailer. Hope this helps someone with an easy fix to a frustrating problem.
