Kodiak Cub water heater question

Good morning - wondering if anyone can help me out. I bought a Cub 175bh. I went from a VW sleeper to this RV. Was dry testing it in the driveway yesterday.
Anyone know how to turn on the water heater in this unit??
The owners manual refers you to a secondary owners manual that says flip the water heater switch. There is no "water heater" switch, just an "electric" and a "propane" on the primary panel. Ugh, the bus was easier

Electric is for the electric element and the gas if for the propane function. If I am plugged in at a campground and have full power I use the electric. If I plan on using a lot of hot water I kick on the propane to help with recovery time for hot water.

If yo uh are at home and plugged into the house on a 20 amp circuit and want hot water make sure the electric side if off.

Make sure the tank has water in it before applying power.

I am in the midst of following multiple how-to videos on dewinterizing the trailer, sanitizing, and flushing the water heater tank. Filling the tanks and trying out the shower is next now. How long does the tank usually take to heat up?


I also just noticed that there is an unsealed gap around the base of the shower insert. Is that ok? Or should I seal it with silicone??

try not to use sillycone unless you really have to.

My electric heater takes 10 minutes for the water to feel warm. It takes longer to get hot.
My gas heater takes 5 minutes to feel warm and 15 minutes to get hot.
When both are on everything happens faster.

Note: Electric element will burn out if it is on and there is no water in the tank. It is a good idea to shut the heater circuit breaker off before you drain the hot water heater and leave it off until you put water into it again.

If the gap is between the floor and the shower/tub pan, it is okay. You can install trim there if it bothers you.

If the gap is between the shower wall liner and the shower/tub pan there may be an issue. If leaking into the wall can occur, the shower wall liner needs to be reinstalled to close the gap.

Sometimes the shower/tub pan is not supported properly underneath and it can move when you step on it. That would also need to be corrected.

ok, I'll take another look at the gap. I test-drove the shower and the base felt very sturdy. Hot water worked great! I can't thank you all enough for your help - very appreciated!
