Have you replaced the handgrip by the entry door?

Has anyone successfully replaced the rubber/foam handgrip on the entry door handrail on their rig? Mine is worn out and splitting at the bottom and I'm not sure how to proceed with replacing it. If you've done this where did you purchase the replacement handgrip? How much work was it to remove the handrail in order to slip the new handgrip on? Sorry about the photo being sideways. I should have rotated it first I guess.

I simply cut mine the rest of the way off... and replaced it with the same type of 'grip tape' I used on my baseball/softball bats and bicycle handlebars when I was younger. Available at almost any sporting goods store... or you can order larger rolls off of Amazon.

Here's a link to what I used... available in various colors:

I guess using grip tape would be the path of least resistance. I just thought someone might have an easy way to replace the existing grip.

When I had warranty work done on my 5'er and pointed out the worn foam, they had to replace whole handle. Said they don't sell just the foam.

Stromberg Carlson makes a replacement grip part #FP-1001-R. Just replaced the grip on my 2013 Denali this weekend looks like new. Used some dish soap inside to help slide it over the handle.

I have balance issues and mine recently saved me from a nasty fall, unfortunately it did not live to tell the tale. Simply went too Amazon, typed in RV safety hand rail. Lots of options, not expensive and easy install.
