Anyway, maybe when the come out with a fiberglass front cap, I'll get one put on.
Black is not a color, its a career choice. Black is VERY hard to take care of and unless it is freshly clean, always looks dirty.
I think that you will be very happy with the white front.....

Thanks, that actually makes me feel a bit bit better. I thought that at least if the Denali's don't come with a fiberglass cap, at least I could get a black front to set it apart. But if it will be a pain to maintain, then maybe the white is better. I still might add some decals to the front to make seem a bit different.

Look at it this way....the black cars look unbelievably beautiful on the showroom floor under those bright lights.....but, when was that last time you saw a black car look like that next to you at a traffic light?
The gel coat TT's are really pretty shiny after a good wash with DAWN dish detergent, and if you do ever park somewhere where it's hot, you'll be very glad to have the white front.
In addition, I've seen more black fronts with wrinkles in them after warping slightly from absorbing heat.....enough reasons to be happy with white???

From your post above, are you saying the white fronts are gel coated but the black ones are not? I figured they would be the same finish but truthfully I have no idea. And yeah, I agree with you that black would be tougher to keep clean. Never thought about a potential warping issue. I'm guessing these may be some of the reasons why they went back to white for the latter half of the 2012 model run. Regardless, I think the white will grow on me whereas the novelty of the black could wear off with the extra hassle of keeping it clean. They did order me a new set of decals for the front (without me asking) so I might actually try to do something a little unique with some black vinyl and the new decal set. We'll see...

Black: http://www.kitsmillerrv.com/cf/store/pr ... uctid=2623
White: http://www.campingworldofburlington.com ... ali/192049

Oh, the only other issue was the keyless entry device was not working so they also ordered a new one of those.

One thing that kinda sucks is I cannot put my tailgate down all the way with the motorized tongue jack. I aksed if we could rotate the jack itself on the post, but they tell me no. I was also surprised to learn today that the left and right stablizer jacks are not independent, which means you really cannot truly level with them from inside the trailer with the remote like the salesperson claimed. You still need to get ouut and use blocks and such. Seems like a simple thing to make them all independent, not sure why they didn't.

Other than that, it seems great! Insurance is $400 per year and it's now all registered and ready to roll!

Cheers, JC

Is that at the dealer or is that yours? If its yours, that is covered under warranty. Our last white one did the same thing......one reason Denali stepped up and got us our new TT.....long story....

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Hey folks, my first trip is April 6th - aside from clothes, what all should I bring? I am thinking:
- blocks
- blankets & pillows
- food
- TP
- wheel chocks
- 9V batteries?
- dishes
- dish soap
- cleaning supplies (detergents, broom, mop, vacuum, etc)
- bug tent/spray (probably don't need yet)
- candles

Anything else?

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Before heading out, add a couple gallons of water to the black tank and add some chemicals for breaking down the debris. This way it gets good and mixed up before getting used. I also do this after each trip to the dump station so it gets good and mixed up and sloshed around on the way home...

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Imsteck, the problem was the fault of a poorly made hose. The hose was leaking in two places, both of them where the hose end was crimped onto the hose. It was a minor leak, but could have done damage over time. We have had no other problems since then and are really happy with our trailer.

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Well, we just had the Denali out this weekend for the first time. Seemed awesome. No major issues. Water pump made a nasty noise until I realized that it had air in the lines. Some other minor issues included a dripping outdoor shower quick connect, a couple of loose screws, a loose tv AV wire behind the stereo and some loose trim. All non-issues really. Although, why these companies cannot figure out how to keep the dinette upholstry trim from coming off is beyond me.

In terms of value for dollar, pretty good. The finish in the Denali is nice. But the features I am not sure are worth the extra money. We paid about $6k more than the base Dutchman but thinking Dutchmen would have been 90% of the Denali. For example:
- The stabilizers don't actually allow you to level the trailer, you need to block under the tires, whereas a manual stabilizer can actually do a bit of lifting.
- The heated underbelly is likely very good in winter but in spring/fall just sucks up heat that could otherwise go into the cabin. I went through half of a 40-lb bottle in 2.5 days.
- The exterior stereo is not very loud.
- The master bedroom tv is not connected to the main tv's DVD player.

On the plus side, the larger fridge and hot water tank were handy and the dual pane frameless windows are sweet! The main reason we bought it was for the solid wood cabinets, winter package (more for soundproofing than insulation) and the solid wood doors (the inlaws snore ridiculously loud and we did notice that the back door really helped soundproof the bunkhouse. But if none of that matters to you, the Dutchmen would be the way to go. However, having the option to go out to Lake Louise in the winter for a few days of no-hotel skiing while being able to bring the dog with us, could be worth it's weight in gold - time will tell. So in a nutshell, yes we overspent but are still happy with the decision.

Cheers, JC

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Turn the heater down a little at night.

The first time out in ours we left it at 70 because we were worried about the kids. It was down in the twenties at night and we were killing a 30lb bottle every other day. This last time out in snow we went 3 days on a 30 just by turning the furnace down to 65 at night. Couldn't believe the difference.

Next time it'll be an one more blanket and 60 on the thermostat.

Glad to hear you're happy with the rig!

OH, I noticed there was no beer listed on the camping list.

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Oh don't worry, we had plenty of beer!

One thing my neighbor told me was when at a powered site, bring an electric heater or two to keep the propane use to a minimum. Will really depend on how much heat I want (or need) to get into the underbelly.

Re: Denali Pull Behind

So did my second trip this weekend and have a few niggling issues with our TT:
- Trim is coming off one side of the dinette (they missed a screw)
- Exterior shower quick connect leaks like a sieve
- The seal around the outdoor kitchen is coming off
- Pantry door latch screw is stripped
- Keyless entry doesn't work

Other than that, it's great!

JC

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Sounds like your finding all those little niggly things JC before you go on your main trip in the summer. We pick ours up next Saturday & going to Radium at the end of May for a couple of days. Then come back to Calgary & finish off the rest of the week locally. This will be our first trip with a TT ever so cant wait.....

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Yeah, I can't wait for May long. Will be awesome. We went to Mount Kidd RV park last weekend and that is a gorgeous spot. Weather was t-shirt and shorts. COuldn't have asked for more than that for an April weekend camping in the Rockies!

Re: Denali Pull Behind

Ours is a 2012 270FK a little shorter with one less slide. Where was your water leak? Any other problems with yours?
We have had ours just once and overall we really love the trailer layout and are satisfied with the quality. Ours is back at the dealership to address some warranty items, I have my fingers crossed that all will be taken care of..........we don't have any leaks that I know of.

Re: Denali Pull Behind

My leak was on the exterior shower quick connect but I really hope none of it got in behind the fiberglass. I don't think it did but if it did, I am guessing that too would be a warranty item. Dropped it off Monday and when I called today they hadn't touched it yet but it is the next unit scheduled to go into the bay so guessing I will have it back later this week. They even ordered me a complete new set if decals even though only one decal had a tiny defect so I told them to leave them loose in the camper so I can refresh them if ever I decide to sell the unit - score!
