Dealer applied Coatings at time of sale?

I've been pitched to buy the dealer applied protective coatings to our new to pick up TT. He said they'd put protective coating on the outside that would last 5 years, coat the awning for mold and mildew, undercoating, and interior textile sealant from stains. I really wonder if any of this is really needed. My question is to all you owners for this noob, should I have any of this done? I plan on passing on all but the question of exterior. We will store outside but with a full RV cover. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I would wonder more if any of that is really real. Sounds like your salesman should be in the United States Congress.

If you have it done, make sure they apply that snake oil to your tires.

my dealer pulled the same chit and I fell for it knowing better. when I came to do PDI and take delivery I told them they were nuts that there was no coating other than the half a** wash job they gave me. I told them if they applied the "special" treatment they did so over all the dirt spots they missed. its a scam!! they agreed to remove from my bill.

I would not waste the money on their coatings... I wash my own trailer and apply 303.

NO coating will last 5 yrs in the elements. Can't be done. I'm a detailer and the best (Opticoat etc) on vehicles will last in BEST case scenarios 2 yrs (no harsh environments). Save the money and wash and wax your TT twice a year. Wash it, apply a coat of a paint sealant like (Jet Seal from CHEMICAL GUYS) and if you are really up to a day long project, apply a hard Carnuba wax. It will protect it as good as it gets. The paint sealant can be used over your graphics if need be. Also, NO COATING will last 5 yrs on fabric (awning) either in the elements.

Take a day, a 12 pack, good music and some elbow grease and you'll be much better off.

We did it just because this is our first camper and we were already getting the extended warranty anyway. Only time will tell if it will be worth it. Funny thing is this year the weather is determined to hail on the new camper and I'm left laughing about it thinking if the aluminum panels get damaged and need replaced anyway was the RV protectant really worth it. High chance in Nebraska of needing hail repair every 5 years anyway.

I realize the awning is protected from mold for 5 years, but I would still never store it wet.

Use the $$ and buy a good cover for the trailer and wheels!
