Carbon Monoxide Alarm

When towing my 2017 Aerolite 294RKSS to the Smokey’s recently, the Carbon Monoxide Alarm was going off, twice, when we stopped enroute. I tow it with a gas model Ford F250. What would cause this?

Is it a 9V battery model? If so, I'd say low battery and put a new one in there
The CO monitors themselves also have a useful lifespan and need periodic replacing. I don't recall the lifespan, I want to say 5 years. Yours does not sound that old, but they are easy and inexpensive to replace.

Or of course there could be some exhaust from the tow vehicle getting into the unit and setting it off.
