Try this thread http://www.dutchmenowners.org/forums...html#post16644.

One thing that I do that doesn't get mentioned is drive aways before I drain my tanks. If I know there is a dump station down the road at a fuel stop I'll dump there, or I'll do a couple of laps around the campground to agitate the solids and get them moving around.

I don't know if it is the best, but I use one of those Turbo Jet cleaners to flush the tank. It mounts in the Black tank and has a hose connection, works good for me..

We have used this for over 10 years with no problems. here is the Recipe.

Recipe
1 Cup of Pine Sol
1 Cup of houshold Ammonia
1 Cup of Fabric Softner. (snuggle or any other brand)
8 oz of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda.

Put it all in a Empty Gallon Jug and add water to fill Jug.
Shake well and add one cup to each empty tank pour some down each drain. as tanks get half full add another cup. It stops Odors, Lubricates and cleans tanks and valves.
It works great for us and we have never had any smell or stink even when dry camping for two weeks in Death Valley when it was hot. That should take care of the problem.

I installed a sani-flush when new and it works great. My friends swear by pouring large amounts of ice in toilet and flushing it just prior to driving home. They say the ice rattles in the tank cleaning things and then simply melt. Sounds good but I've never tried it.

Using Ice works after a fashion, but being water it won't clean the sensors nor lubricate the valves and won't do anything for the smell.
