Battery Help

Hello,

We have a 2015 Coleman. It is currently plugged in to electric but lights, plugs, refrigerator and a/c are not working. We replaced battery but it died the next day too. When we place the battery on the charger, everything works. Should it even be using the battery when plugged in?

Any ideas on the problem and hopefully a fix?

Hi and welcome!

Which specific Coleman do you have? Sounds like the main breaker might be off. Lights, fridge control board, vent fans and furnace run off the 12 volt power provided by the battery and/or converter. A/C, converter (also charges battery) most televisions and electric water heaters are powered by 120 volt power.

The main breaker is in the Converter case, usually a 30 amp breaker, on most units it is the top one. If that is on you need to get someone to check the wiring ASAP.

Yes it uses the battery to control many of the 120V items such as the AC unit and fridge. If everything is working when the battery is on an external charger then either the inverter is bad or is not receiving any power. Check the inverter fuse.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Just had another thought...

Battery powered stuff like lights won't work if the swing level galley is in the down position, there is a switch that cuts off the power to the lights so you don't set the bunk canvas on fire when the top is down. At least that is the way it worked on my 2000 Coleman Niagara.

But the OP said things work ok when an external charger is connected.
