ATV carrier on back of travel trailer?

Anyone ever built/bought an atv carrier and mounted it on the back of their travel trailer? A carrier with no wheels under it.

You would be better off getting a toy hauler. The problem I see with installing an ATV carrier on the back is that would significantly decrease your tongue weight which could be dangerous for towing. When I was younger my father fabricated a hitch on the back of our trailer for a bike rack. The weight of 3 bikes with the bouncing of the trailer put a stress crack in the bumper even though it was reinforced with aluminum beams. In addition, the bouncing of the bike rack was enough to be felt in our suburban. I can’t imagine how that would be with an ATV.

Toy haulers are designed to accept this weight behind the wheels. The garage area isn’t located too significantly far from the main axles.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your set up?

2810 aspen trail TT. Going across the country from GA to AK, and really want the bed of my truck free for other cargo.

Something like this might help so you can still use your bed for storage.

I added a bike carrier via a receiver hitch. I had a steel box welded to fix in the C bar bumper and then bolted it in. Still, it wasn't all that strong, so I added an eye hook about 3' up and fasten a chain from the carrier to the tailgate. Works great. ATV might need more.

Rack

I actually built one last year. Got some 2 x 4 steel tube, welded to the mainframe about 4’ back from where the cheap bumper was. Came out 2’ past that. Then welded a 6x4” piece to the ends for bumper.
Then I welded a receiver block to the bottom with reinforcements. Works great! Ain’t going anywhere!
Those stock bumper are not made to mount or haul. Mig welder $450
Steel $250 done

I built a swivel wheel trailer to carry my motorcycle. This was for my 5th wheel as apposed to a bumper pull. I have been pulling this since 2013. I have put around 16000 miles on it. This takes the weigh off the rear of the trailer. Note that it does swing wide when cornering and makes for a long rig going down the road.

I built a extension on my 5th wheel for my BMW worked great for 1,000 miles. When I stoped at a rest area I found that I had pulled the floor away from the wall. I would advise against it with out proper professional guidance.
