A/C question from newbie

So I got an adapter to plug my shoreline into a Regular outside plug on the advice from camping world to keep my refer running. He said it would not run the a/c. When I plugged it in the a/c came on. I had left it in he on position. Why is it running I turned it off. 2014 Dutchmen Coleman lantern 28 foot

If you are using a 15 or 20amp circuit, low voltage could cause the AC to overheat. (my opinion)

You usually don't have a problem with one high draw item using the adapter, as long as you are not using an extenstion cord.

Well I am using an extension cord so I'm gonna just leave it off. It only ran for about a minute before I cut it off.

My experience

I ran my AC once on a 30Amp to 110V plug converter and it melted the adapter. Not horribly but I could see some black and it clearly got very hot. I've never had trouble with it on the regular 30AMP plug.

Yea, I'm not trying to run it, I guess I was just figuring it wouldn't come on at all.

My 15k unit only draws 13 amps, I ran it all last summer(20 amp) with a properly sized extension cord, zero problems. You all do realize they run off an extension cord when you are hooked to power at a campground?

Yea I was looking at my unit it's a 13,5k unit it should in theory run especially if I am not using anything else in the trailer I won't push it to run all the time but I may run it some while we are working on putting stuff in there. My wife has been inside making it home!

Not talking about the RV power cord, which in my case is hard wired, talking about undersized 16ga extension cords that folks have. I don't own an extension cord smaller than a 12ga, learned that lesson a long time ago when I burnt up a tablesaw with a too long and undersized extension.

I have no problem running the AC or any other high draw appliance, just can't run more than one at a time.
