94 Dutchman Classic metal roof reseal
Our new to us 1994 Dutchmen 26' two bedroom, has a metal roof on it, I will assume it's aluminum. We had heavy rains come through yesterday and so I used this as an opportunity to check for leaks. Unfortunately I found two!
One of the roof vent covers was cracked, so replaced that, although I don't think correctly. I followed the directions but it was very difficult to get the "hinge" to rebend and form upon installation.
Worse than that though is I have leak coming down from the roof seam on the door side. The sealant/caulk on the roof is very deteriorated. Front, back, sides, roof vents, plumbing vents, tv antenna, all the sealant is cracked and deteriorated.
What do I use to reseal?
What is the proper process, or procedure to prep and reseal a metal roof such as mine?
There seem to be so many options from caulk like sealants such as sikaflex and Dicor lap sealants, to rolls of tapes like eternabond. I'm new to all of this and don't know what to use.
Thanks in advance!
