1997 Dutchmen Classic GL GVWR

Hi, I recently purchased a 1997 Dutchmen Classic GL. I'm trying to find more info about it, specifically the various weight ratings. I found brochures on Dutchmens website but I'm a little confused because my camper has aerolite style siding and a sticker that says it has the aluminum frame and those does not appear to be offered in the brochure for the 1997 Dutchmen Classic. Can anyone offer some insight? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

I would try looking at a brochure a year newer and maybe see if it has your model? What is your build date? It should be on the little square tag near the left front corner (if you can still read it). Dutchmen, as well as many other RV manufacturers are known for making running changes that don't make the brochures.

Another thing to look for is a weight tag inside your kitchen cabinets. Typically it is on the inside of one them, sometimes in the back of the cabinet.

After posting I did find a brochure for a 1998 Classic GL, but the weight in the 1998 brochure doesn't match the title and what I think the square tag says (tag is in rough shape). The tag and title about to have a GVWR weight of an even 7k but the brochure is closer to 8k. I'll look in the cabinets though, thanks for the info!

I don't normally trust title weights, they can be anything, right or wrong.

Hopefully you can find the inside tag which should give you the dry weight of the trailer. Another thing you can do is check the axles for tags and see what the GVW of them is, then figure ~15% of that for tongue weight which would give you an approximation of the GVW.

Couldn't find an inside tag anywhere. But I looked again and the GVWR on the outside tag does say 7k which matches the title but not the brochure. I'll check the axles when I jack it up to change the tires, thanks for that suggestion. I'm thinking I'll just assume it's 8K to be safe.
