10 Day Trip in the Books

We just returned from a 10 Day camping trip which took us to 3 different campsites and about 1800 km's round trip!

We encountered no issues whatsoever with the trailer or the truck! It was a pretty awesome vacation with just myself, the wife and the 2 year old daughter. Great end of summer weather as well. We only had one night of rain.

I took time while my daughter was napping to go around the trailer and caulk everything I could find that could eventually create problems. Although it is a 2013, I rather do it now than wait for problems! I even did the little cracks around each storage hatch door, door and wherever else water could potentially get in!

I also re-caulked the outdoor kitchen in its entirety, the shower and kitchen inside!

I cannot express how happy I am with our Denali BH311, we had lots of room, great comfort and plenty of storage space!

We hit huge winds coming back on the 401 yesterday and that was a little scary but I ended up following a tractor trailer and all was well!

Loving the camping life!!!

Sorry to take so long to reply to this!

Sounds like a great trip, glad you all had fun! Being proactive in your sealing is always a good idea, one many people put off a tad too long. Just be sure to use the correct sealants! Ask at the dealers which ones to use and for what, it does make a difference. I know you've already done it but just a bit of advice for others reading this post.

Thanks! And yes getting the right sealants is key! I had researched it and also double checked with my dealer.

Thanks Buddy! And yes, the shakedown appears to have been successful. I force a little more "shake" than wanted when the GPS led me into a 75km backroads trek when going from one campsite to another during our vacay. But apart from the whole outdoor fridge contents falling out when I opened it, everything was intact!!

How do you find the Ram with such a big trailer?

Honestly, I was scared before picking up the trailer but after towing for about 4000km's since getting it, I can't really complain. Plenty of power and torque, averaging 22L/100km and as long as I keep it under 120km/h there is little to no sway.

Ideally I would have loved to have a 2500 and even a 3500 but I just got the truck in April and would take wayyyyy too much of a loss on a trade!

But all in all thee Ram is doing the job! Loving the trailer too!

Have all the quirks been dealt with in yours?

Yeah, I think my teething pains are finally over. Now I just break stuff on my own due to stupidity. For example, I am on my 3rd rear door hold back. I continually close the door and forget to unlatch it.

Lol!!!

I started prepping for winterizing earlier today, emptied almost everything, now I just need to clean it and load it up with all the summer stuff we won't be using... like bikes, summer toys, etc. I figure why keep all that stuff in the shed or garage when i can put it all in the trailer and forget about it until spring!
