Wheel Chocks

Has anyone used these wheel chocks http://www.rvupgradestore.com/fastway-o ... 7-0278.htm and would they fit the wide wheel base on the 2012 Aerolite 285BHGS. Thanks.

Re: Wheel Chocks

They sure look like they would work. I WOULD recommend against the "X" chocks that crank between the wheels. The surface against the tires was too smooth on the ones I had, and the pressure you had to put on the tire for them to actually work almost looked like it was either going to flat spot the tire, or move the axle on the springs!

I have a pair of X Chocks and have never had an issue with them. One thing I did was put a non-skid adhesive pad on each pad of the chocks that touch the tire.

Dave.

We have a pair of chucks that DH just hates to put on! With my chronic Vertigo I feel every little movement! I guess next summer I'll have to try to put them on!

I'm thinking of using the X Chocks next year as we still get a lot of movement after setting up & putting Chocks under the wheels. Do they make a lot of difference or would i be wasting my money ??

I like the X Chocks. I had to go to 2 of them, one for each side, and it helped a lot.

Two things with the X Chocks.....
1. As stated above, put some non skid pads on them where they contact the tires.

2. Don't over tighten them, as I've heard of people actually moving the axle bolts with these. Tighten just until the tires start to deflect, no more!

Just make sure that what you buy will expand enough to accomodate the spread axel. My tires, surface to surface, are 9.5" apart. The chocks I bought will spread to 12". I have plenty of sticking power (I'm currently parked on a pretty steep downgrade), and the difference in stability is amazing!

A neighbor of mine took a four by six and cut it to fit between his tires. The slab of wood was shaped like a triangle with the tip cut off so it really had 4 sides. He actually cut the wood to fit the curvature of the tires so the chock was a fairly snug fit. What a great chock for his tires. Not wanting to buy a whole four by six i thought of bolting or screwing a couple of two by six together and making the same chock. One chock in between the tires would keep the rig from rolling either way.

We have an older version of the BAL wheel chocks that you use a ratchet to tighten between the wheels and absolutely love them! When we use one on each side the camper doesn't move.
