Flush the tank with fresh water. After emptying add a cup or two of bleach and about a half tank of water. If you can, hook up and drive around the block to slosh the water around in the tank.
Now turn on your water pump and flush any anti-freeze from the lines and to clean the lines with the chlorinated water.
Turn off the pump and drain the water tank again. Now, you should be good-to-go!

Good tip

Drink Scotch....as fish pee in the water.

Bleach

Great idea Gordon, in fact it’s bleach we use every year to open up our camper for the season. A few years ago we had a water tank that you couldn’t even approach to treat because of the odor. I went to our RV dealer here and he sold me a chemical – don’t remember the whole name but it was Captain “?” and it also did a great job. I think it was actually developed for use on boats. Now as a preventative measure we do it often as you can never completely trust how your water supply has been treated in these small rural campsites.
So after reading Cooper’s post I have to ask him if he refuses to eat mushrooms for the very same reason.

It could have been " Captain Morgan's "a fine rum spirit from Jamaica.... to a variety of mushrooms...from pine..to a favorite back in 60's and 70's or maybe now " magic mushrooms"
