Toilet Clog Issue

We are at the end of our shakedown week for a new 2019 Dutchmen Aerolite 2923BH. Things have really gone well for the most part. However, today the toilet would not flush. The control panel showed only the first of the three indicator lights so I was really confused. I went out and pulled the dump handle and watched the clear elbow and the tank drained normally but the toilet would still not drain. So I connected water up the black tank flush connection. I filled the tank and flushed it twice more. Again the toilet would still not flush.

At this point I was super confused. I drove down to Lowes and got a small plumbers snake. I turned off the water connection to the RV as the toilet bowl was full. I ran the snake down and eventually got the clogged to clear partially and the toilet finally flushed. But I could not clear it all the way so I brought in the water hose and jetted the toilet itself. It turns out that 60% of the pipe is obstructed with what I can only call a ledge. The toilet paper built up on this ledge until it eventually blocked the toilet. This cannot be by design. It seems like the toilet is misaligned on the tank. Anyone seen this before? I am at a point that I cannot take the unit back to Camping World for a while.

Thanks In Advance!

Just recently a thread was started where the toilet had been pulled and what appears to be a shelf or obstruction causing problems.
The OP may see this and chime in.
Some think it is the curve of a coupling and others think the hole was offset from the coupling. It may be determined when the rig goes to the dealer for inspection.
You can pull the toilet and have a look see bit it seems like the same problem.

Thanks! I have reached out to that OP as I can take a second picture JUST like that one right now. And you comment I believe is spot on. When we started shopping I had only 6 manufacturer's on my list due to quality and Dutchmen was one of those. Now to have this show up is painful quite frankly.

I have reached out to Camping World (as the other poster was instructed to do). We will see what they say about this.

Thanks

Good luck and let us know what the outcome is. Welcome to the forum!

Update

I got a little runaround on this issue but here is where we stand.

Dutchmen support found a service location about 40 miles from where we are currently parked. I explained to them that the same problem has occured on different style RVs and she agreed to pass on a detailed technical message to engineering. We will see what they come back with.

This shelf is NOT the bottom of the tank btw. The water from flush connection flows underneath this shelf.

This is interesting to some of us. Without seeing it in person I think the tank is offset from the floor. We'll only know when you know so we are waiting for the final answer.

Kind of a strange design I would say. (scratches head).

that is why I requested that my information to be sent to their engineering group. This cannot be "as designed"

maybe it should have been sent to the installation group instead ?? ;(

I wonder if it was something from the tank manufacturer that said "please remove before installation"?

Had to be in Braille of course for the installers.

I got a message from her a few days ago. They were advised to take it to be inspected. I believe they are still working on it.

Toilet shelf

I’m am very curious what the outcome. I have a 2017 Dutchmen kodiak ultimate 288bhsl and my toilet has the same shelf, looks like a 90 degree into the black tank. I still have no idea what the shelf is for. I had one clog but haven’t had one since I started using a ton of water to flush, but If it is a defect I’ll have to take mine in as well. Are all Dutchman’s toilets like this?

I have not heard anything back from Dutchmen on this. But I will say that we have three different models with the same bone headed problem.

My first clog was my only one so far but we are only two weeks into it. And that clog was a bad one.

Why not just unscrew the flange from the floor and pull the black pipe out of the tank? It took a little doing and some soap to make the pipe slippery enough to come out of the uniseal but I was able to do it with a little wiggling. Once out, it should be clear what the problem is.

Does it go straight down into the black or does the shelf / pipe 90 into the black?
