New Kodiak 279RBSL TT

Hello everyone new member here. My wife and I just purchased a new Kodiak 278RBSL. This is our first brand new travel trailer and we really like it. My question concerns the difference between over the air tv, cable, and Dish network signals. When we got the trailer we were told it was only wired for a cable connection. And our Dish Tailgater setup would not work with the outside cable connection. Can someone please tell me why the dish sat won’t work over the provided cable connection. Also is there a workaround to correct the issue. Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

The sat takes power and you need a special splitter for that. there is a thread here devoted to this issue... i'll see if i can find it.

My rv was wired for cable only,, and I bought a dish tailgater,, there was a splitter in the line between the living room TV and bedroom that had to be removed. I then ran a new cable from the outside to the living room tv,, works fine now, but only dish in living room, not bedroom. I couldn't make it work any other way. I call it the control station, but its probably called something g else,, it is where electric, water and cable hookup,, I drilled a small hole there then put a cable outlet there, then ran new cable up to living room, kind of hard to explain but if your still confused let me know. Where the TV did hook up at the wall I took that cover plate off and splitter was right behind there

I picked this up from Amazon and it did the trick just fine.

Also if you but cable and connectors make sure they have blue on the ends of connectors and the new cable is for satellite

Welcome to Dutchmen.org

Welcome and enjoy your new TT. We also have a 279RBSL but a 2018. We are south for 3 months breaking it in and enjoying every minute. We have added shelves, bed lifter, lights, hooks, shower head, sink strainer, rear stabilizer, toilet riser, replaced the sofa, moved dinette table, removed 2 chairs, 110 outlets under bed and in storage area, will be adding outlet under microwave, adding lights around vanity etc etc..... It’s finally getting to be everything we need.

Let us us know your modifications if you would. Thanks. Ray
