Kodiak Ultimate Roof Issue

Hi all,

I was prepping to cover the camper for the winter, but when I went up top I unfortunately saw the cracking in the sealant where the fiberglass cap meets the roof top. Note the bubbling and movement of the rubber top.

RV shop says replacement at $6-10k. Anyone have a similar experience? What did you do? I put on some dicor for now. Live in CO, so dry as a bone, wood underneath was solid when I went up.

Tim

If I were faced with that expense for a roof, I 'd go for a more permanent solution.

or

www.RVRoof.com

Just my 2 cents

Good suggestions and I'd certainly consider either one... my timing is a bit late for RV armor now that it's getting cold and their techs have moved south. Certainly like the idea of half the price and no more caulking!

Looks like you are getting air in under the roof and stretching it. Seen a few trailers going down the road with the big bubble. Only a matter of time before the roof membrane fails and you have a giant tear. Your air leak could be anywhere on the front cap.

I wish I had a good camera that could show me what's going on up there. Have it in w dealer now to get an estimate and see what the story is.

Good feedback, thanks.

Remove the old sealant. Get rid of the wrinkles if you can. Reseal the joint. Turn your photos 90 degrees to the right.

Order rubber roof, the self leveling sealant, and the tape from Amazon..Easy as can be to do it yourself..I did it on my Voltage. Should've cut the original off first..but solid as can be..I work on RVs. Where in Colorado are you located..I am just North of Denver..

Roof fix.

The rubber comes in 5’ widths. Get some adhesive, rubber, caulk and and tape. No need to do the whole thing. Just my 2 cents.

I read an article, forgot where on RV roof sealant repair and one of the recommendations was Flex Seal in the liquid gallon can.

Have no idea how good than would be except what you can believe in commercials.
