Kodiak 186e Expandables

Does anyone have an opinion on the Kodiak 186e Expandable?

Are the solid axles good on these units?

We are looking at a 2015.

Thanks for your opinion.

Linda

I have a 2013 181e, a very similar model. I have had no major issues with it, and have been quite happy with it.

I just purchased a 172 E. We've been through it quite closely and thus far, I have no complaints. Regardless of what your dealer might tell you, the "canvas" material DOES need conditioned. Not only will find a small piece of paper with instructions tucked inside,
if you call Dutchman (as I did, after getting conflicting info) they will tell you to condition as well. Simple process-spray it until soaked and allow to dry, three times. This will allow threads to swell and help prevent leaks. It seems to work. The first soaking we got some small leaks. By the third, nothing.

Also, consider getting "gizmos" for the fold outs. They help keep condensation down and help with cooling. Worth the money. gizmo.com.

I've not heard anyone complain about the axles. Obviously, these are light units. Avoid overloading.

Good luck and let me know if you buy and if you like it.

We have had a 186e for two seasons. We love the unit. No real issues to date only a couple of minor items.
