Furrion Back-Up / rear view camera wiring

I am fishing here, but I need to find some answers. I have a new Aerolite 284BHSL travel trailer. It came pre-wired for the Furrion back up camera. I bought Furrion's Rear View camera system. There is a difference. The back-up camera only receives power when the tow vehicle is in reverse. The Rear View camera system needs power all the time the trailer is powered in order to see behind you at any time. Does anybody know where or how the wiring is hooked up to the back-up signal from the tow vehicle? I suspect through the 7 pin connector in some way. What I want to do is change the wiring to a terminal or point that is always powered when the trailer is powered. If I haven't made my request clear, send me a question....Please.
Thanks in advance.

If is is only coming on when it is in reverse then it has to be tied to the reverse lights somehow. On the standard 7 pin plug, typically the center pin is the reverse lights. Here is a link to the wiring diagram for one. I would consider putting the camera on the running light circuit, you don't want it to have power all the time, eventually it will "burn" out. As far as where it is hooked in... good luck, I would start at the camera end and check the wire color then look in the wiring bundle with the rest of the lights near the front.

I wish anyone that buys anything from Furrion the best of luck, it's garbage at best.

I won't go so far as to say Furion items are junk... as the Voyager system mine came with wasn't any better. 3 camera replacements & 2 monitors was enough, even it they were replaced under warranty.

Last year I spent my own dime and switched to the Garmin camera that pairs with my Garmin RV GPS, and have had ZERO PROBLEMS since.

That's ok, I will. Nothing but problems with my DVD setup, would not respond to emails or phone calls. I hope they rot in Hell.

Mine seems to be wired to the interior lights and it is on all of the time.

I just purchased one for my rv which too was prewired. I noticed that Amazon sells two different types, one of which is a backup camera only. The one I ordered and installed is the FOS48TAPK-BL Wireless Observation Camera. My trailer was prewired through the rear marker lights so the camera is active while the rigs lights are on. It works great so perhaps you installed the wrong unit for your needs. The plate on the mounting cover on your trailer should state which camera system to buy for what you want it to do. Hope that helps.

Thank You, I didn't purchase the wrong one as I wanted a rear view camera system, not just a backup system. I did find the problem though. Mine is prewired for 'back up" only. I plan on rewiring the 7 pin anyway (I can't believe they put all those wires in the junction/connection box together in a wire nut). Etrailer has a junction box with 7 terminals for all the wires. Great product. Thanks for the help.
