Colman 1855RB Camera connection.

I wired up a rear camera on my camper.
Everything seems to work fine, no complaints.
Until I noted that the camera is powered on all the time.
I was under the impression that the camera power wire would only have power when the vehicle running lights were on.

Power on all the time is actually not a good thing if you want your battery to last.
Any one have an idea where that green wire gets fed from?
I would like to add a switch or some way to turn it off when not needed.

Sounds like your wiring is factory for what is called an “observation” camera as opposed to a back up camera. Hence it is always powered.

Honestly, I would think the amperage draw is so low I wouldn’t worry about it draining your batteries while camping. Likely, far less than a light in the trailer would draw. I would imagine that when you switch off your battery disconnect that it will turn off.

I know that didn’t answer your question but hopefully gives you less reason for concern.

I placed a switch to shut mine off when not traveling. Had to go in through the exhaust fan area, find the correct wire and install a toggle switch.
