213RBSL Owners

Hi All,

We purchased a 213RBSL last summer and love it. We've done a few mods and are now wondering what other 213 owners have done for these two areas:

1) What have you done to that massive storage area in the bathroom (above the outdoor kitchen) to make it more usable. We are thinking of some kind shelving and/or storage boxes of some sort.

2) My wife can't reach the Power Vent switch in the bathroom vent fan. Short of replacing the fan with a remote controlled fan, has anyone had any luck finding a pull chain type switch or other way to control the fan?

We'd love to hear your ideas and/or what you've actually done. Thanks in advance!

I had plans to do shelving in the storage space, but have never followed through. It's hard to access most of the space because of the toilet. I just use the front portion as my closet, as you know the closet's next to the bed are tiny.

It really is a wasted space, it's one of the very few problems with the 213, not much accessible storage. Plastic bins seem like a good solution as you could slide them back around the corner.

We put a laundry basket in the far right of that wasted storage space, throw towels and clothes in as necessary. Use the front part as clean towel and closet space. When we are unpacking, the basket comes right out with all the laundry, straight into the house.

As for the vents, I married a tall woman. She can get to both vents and the antenna.

Thanks Dawniewest and GTWags, yes it a nice big storage area that's difficult to get to. We currently use the storage for storing our shower towel holder (when traveling), towels, and a mesh laundry bag for dirty clothes, but that hardly puts a dent in that area. Just trying to think of a way to better use the space. Totes and possibly putting a hanging rod to hang some shirts are all worth checking into further.

Decided to revive this thread, instead of starting another, since it has such a nice title to it.

When I purchased the little 213 about 1 1/2 years ago I actually didn't have any expertise on RV's, and I must admit to picking the 213 for no other reason than that amazing bathroom! At the time I didn't have the normal "pressure" that most shoppers would have because I intended to live in it for no more than 3-4 months. My strategy was to hide in the air conditioning throughout the June-August Texas coastal heat, then build me a proper tiny-house for permanent residence.

Well, so much for plans. Turns out the 213 exceeded all my expectations and does such a stunning job of providing the same "tiny-house" lifestyle that I was aiming at. So well, in fact, I can't seem to muster the effort to ................

This weekend I spent all of a couple of hours remodeling the dining room. That's code for 30 minutes of screw-gun based demolition, and an hour or so of assembling new furniture.



Yep, it's an office now. MUCH more useful to me AND I gain a comfortable sitting position! (That booth just ergonomically tortured this old man)
I also gain back any storage space I lost with cheap and light (plastic) drawer units.

And finally, although I have posted bedroom mods in the past, I am finished on that end too. Out came the unused mattress space and I gained a reading room and a nice stack for drawers for clothing.



Can you tell I LOVE this little tiny-house 213?
While I'm sure you have to have some sort of gene in your DNA to live tiny, if you DO have that blessing, this little Aerolite is a fantastic canvas to start with.

And even if you get a bit of cabin fever, most of us know that ALL of these RV's have the advantage of being able to nestle up to some spot that makes a glorious porch. A room as big as the outdoors!
It helps, of course, to be somewhere that has 9 months of porch weather.

Holy cow, that looks like a sweet little apartment. Are the walls finished behind the dinette? I'm really wanting to tear it out and put a set of recliners or a fold out couch in there. Just didn't know how well the dinette was attached, or if i'm in for a bunch of finish work.

Yes, it has the wallpaper on the wall under the big window. And the same fake wood finish on the other 2 walls that match the underseat storage.

Zero "finish work" if you're carefull pulling the staples out towards the front curved part of the storage.



I left the 2" cap that runs along the edge.



Yea, if my precious wife was still with us, I'd have put a nice couch in that office space. I think you'll love it!

If you mean I've made the most mistakes on mine, I agree.
That nice open space with finished walls has me itching to tear that dinette out.
I just have to convince wifey it's going to be worth it. Thanks for the pics!

We're going to take our 213 for a spin up to Hiawassee GA for a long weekend. But no new stuff except the Weber Q1200 grill
