Talking Newbs Hello

Hey!

My husband and I just purchased a 1998 Dutchmen Classic lite 19FDL as our first foray out of the tent! We're pulling it with a fully capable 2012 Ford F150 STX 5.0L and have had our first Pseudo-Maiden Voyage in a relative's driveway. (baby steps) Of course, Michigan weather dictated that we'd get a 75mph wind storm just as we're setting up, but we made it through. (dead tree limbs and all)

We spent a few years looking at different campers for one that was small, with a good layout for our small family (we have one child) that was both economical and allowed us to instill a little 'glamper charm' and we've found it with our little cabin on wheels. She needs a little love, but I'm excited for the adventure.

How dangerous is it that we live extremely close to a camping store?

Welcome
"How dangerous is it that we live extremely close to a camping store?" Well it depends upon your budget & pocket book. Being new to RVing just don't fall for everything on sale. Keep a paper & pen handy & write the things down you need. That way you will have a list on needs when you do go shopping. RV camping stores have lots of items that are nice but not always "needed". As long as you have the basics you should have a great time even if it's just parked in a friends driveway.

Hi and welcome to the world of small campers!

Camping stores can be VERY dangerous.

Depending on which one it is. I have a "wish list" on the Camping World website, anytime I think I want something it goes on the wish list. I buy it as I need it, or funds allow. I am NOT allowed to go in by myself.

Not to dangerous if you shop for your needs in other places first, like the big box stores. Also check out your local auto parts store, the store I use carries a lot of parts and accesories and they can order just about anything else. The prices are well below what you pay at a stealership, as an added bonus I get an additional "goog guy" discount.

The only time I go to an RV dealer, is for unit speific parts.

Welcome aboard! I don't know about living next to a camping store, but I do know that if we camp next to one our trip budget explodes! Enjoy the adventures where ever they take you.

Welcome, I can promise you that as a family of former tent campers for years, you'll never go back... We love RV'ing!

As for this ..."How dangerous is it that we live extremely close to a camping store?" for stocking up the trailer its not dangerous at all! I equipped 95% of my new RV from Amazon. So if your a prime member, beware!!!. We had the UPS guy stopping at the house and bringing us surprises daily for a while! But I sure saved a ton.

BUT, for your 1998 trailer turning into a 2015, your better run away !!! :-)

Happy Trails
