New Owner of Voltage 3305

Hi everyone!

We pick up our 2015 Voltage 3305 Monday from the dealer. What things should I look for when we do our walk through? I know the first RV I bought, I was so excited about it that I didn't notice some obvious issues. I've been reading some nightmares about these units. I hope those are the exceptions and not the norm!

Don't let them rush you and try everything, the slides, run them in and out, run some water, a lot of the gang here has had loose hoses...After you take it home, do a test camp, some other things may have come loose during the first drive, because the US has great roads?? enjoy, welcome, happy camping

I traveled over 600 miles to pick mine up. After PDI we stayed near the dealership and used everything possible looking for any problems. About a week after returning had a small water leak in front storage compartment. Opened access panel and it was a loose fitting

I suggest you download a PDI checklist, such as this one. RV Inspection Checklist

It is pretty comprehensive, and applies to all types of RV's. Next, spend a good amount of time going through every system on the RV. Have the tech explain everything that you have. If they can't, find someone who can. I spent 3 1/2 hours doing mine.

The next thing is what I feel is THE most important thing I did. Do not write the check until EVERYTHING on your list is fixed to your satisfaction. My service manager told me it would be a few days because he had no one to work on it. As I was leaving, the owner asked if I was ready to do the paperwork. "I'll take care of it when its ready" was my response. Four hours later I got the call. Apparently everyone in the shop stopped what they were doing and jumped on that trailer. After a 35 minute walk through with my list, everything was good to go. If I had not done that, I feel like it would have taken a few months to get it all done, because my dealer is a good one, and is always busy.

This was my experience, yours might be different. Good luck and happy camping.

I've been doing it right but sure can't do it from the inside also like the video says.
Has anyone been able to lube from the inside?

Jeff N. Congrats on your new unit. I drove from SE Tennessee to Jacksonville to pick up my 3305 last labor day weekend. I figured since I bought it so far away I would check it out good before I took it home so my DW and I made a vacation out of it. We picked it up, drove about an hour north to Jekyll Island and stayed a week. I figured if I found anything wrong, I would take it back to them and leave it till they got it fixed. We already had plans to be at Jekyll towards the end of the month so I figured they would have enough time to fix it and I would pick it up when I came back down for that trip. Thankfully nothing happened and everything is still A OK. Oh yea, I did have a tire go down about 2 days after we got to Jekyll. Good thing I brought a jack with me. I took it off there in the campground and put the spare on. Took the flat one over in to town and had it fixed. Had a huge bolt in it. Put it back on after I got home.

I also was nervous about all the horror stories I had read but this was the floorplan we wanted. It was between the 3305 and a Raptor 332 which has basically the same floorplan. Since I have a SRW truck, the Voltage won with almost 500# less hitch weight than the Raptor.(Even though technically I'm still overweight, every little bit helps)

Jeff...congrats on your new purchase! We purchased ours last August and I will say what everyone else is saying....take your time on the PDI. I've owned RVs for over 20 years and I thought I knew it all. My wife did a video of the PDI on her phone and I've gone back and looked at it a couple of times. We traveled 1500 miles to get ours and stayed the night at the dealership. We tried to use everything on the coach that night and did have a list of issues that they fixed the next day. We've run into some other issues since - so my advice is to use the heck out of it before your year warranty expires. We really like ours and Dutchmen/Keystone has been good about fixing all the issues. Happy camping.

By the way...my tow rig is a Ram 3500 DRW and it squats it pretty good but I don't run airbags.

I use Torklift Stableloads. If your not familiar with them you can google it. They work great for me. When you research them, you'll see there are up to 3 spacers you can use. I use 2 and my truck sits and rides perfect. You will also see that you can disengage them when not needed. I've have gotten to where I just leave mine engaged all the time. The ride is a little rougher but not bad. Besides, I don't drive the truck a whole lot anyway unless I'm towing something.

Timbrens

I used timbrens to keep the truck from sitting too low Home - Timbren Industries Inc. Suspension Products on my F-250 and they seem to work great. I have towed my 3605 about a 1000 miles now and I have had no towing issues so far.
