New Member - 2006 Dutchmen 28R-GS - Leesburg VA
Hi forum members,
After several years of tent camping, we bought a used Dutchmen 28R-GS travel trailer this year and took it on 5 camping trips already, including Niagara Falls and Thousand Islands.
We tow it with a 2004 Yukon XL Denali with a 6.0 litre engine and heavy duty shocks (I replaced the factory auto ride shocks which were blown).
My kids are grown, so we didn't need bunks and are very happy with our 28R-GS as it has a lot of windows in the back and two chairs and a TV console instead of bunks. We don't actually watch a lot of TV, but having the open space, windows and two more chairs is great for us (and our orange tabby cat).
One of our favorite closer-in camping trips this year was at Point Lookout in the southern tip of Maryland where the mouth Potomac River meets the Chesapeake Bay. The state park was great, right on the water and the campsites had a lot of room between them. Plus it was a short drive to many bay front towns with restaurants and great views.
I am happy to find this group and hope to share experiences and ask and answer questions.
