New Kodiak Cub owner

Hi! I just bought a Kodiak Cub 175bh. Any owners of the same trailer in this forum?

Hello and welcome! I’m not on this forum often but someone did start a Kodiak Cub owners thread.

I actually got on to post a quick warning on the gas tank holding plate. I just removed my tanks to take in for a refill and noticed the welded bolts holding the tank plate were rusted and had snapped off; one on each side. I’m headed out for a short two day trip tomorrow and will be fixing with some ubolts tonight.

Paint required

The first spring I owned the Cub, I painted every plated part under the Cub. Last spring I painted everything starting at the hitch and going back about half way. This year I plan to paint what remains. I use a two coat process. A cromate type primer followed by an industrial high gloss finish.

I learned long ago that standard plated hardware does not stand up to highway conditions. Also many paint systems are only good enough for a couple years of use.

It is the curse of low end, cheap products.

I wish you good luck and happy trails ahead!
