Hi from GA!

Hello and I am so excited to be here! We are expecting our new Kodiak 300BHSL early next week. Yes, I know, right AFTER Memorial Day but in time for a week at the beach!!

We bought our first camper in June 2009, a 2010 Keystone Hornet with a bunkhouse. Though we've enjoyed many fun trips, our camper was a dud. Water leaks from the get go. Mold, mildew, etc.

Last sept we took it in and they had to replace the floor, linoleum, and back wall. We picked it up 3 months later, took it straight to storage and anxiously waited for an opportunity to use it. That time came the first week in April.

Got to the storage faculty, opened the door and there was about 1/2" standing water in it. Mold and mildew and unhappy owners.

Dealership made us an offer and we negotiated a fair trade for a new one. They didn't have exactly what I wanted on the lot so we ordered it.

Sure hope Kodiak travel trailers are water sealed better than Keystone is.

Anyway, if I remember I'll post pics when we get it.

Hope your problems are all behind you now! Congratulations and enjoy. Don't worry about Memorial Day, most places have been booked up for a while! More crowd than you need, anyway.

make sure that you do a thorough walk-through. I have seen a checklist in several of these forums.

Another dedicated website worth looking at that several folks have recommended: RV Inspection Checklist

Welcome!

USE THE CHECK LISTS! And do a thorough PDI, I would not sign anymore papers until you do. I hate to be the one to break it to you but Dutchmen is now made by Keystone. That doesn't mean they can't build a decent trailer, but you need to go over it with a fine tooth comb.

Agree on the walkthrough. Don't pay for it until all the items you find are fixed. Operate every system twice. Make sure they show you how to use everything. Ask a ton of questions. Mine took 3 1/2 hours. Then they fixed everything before they got the money. If you take it home broken, it will take weeks to get it fixed. A good dealer will understand, and do this for you.

I did NOT know that Dutchman was made by keystone. Well that explains them giving us an extra $1000 towards our new purchase. This was AFTER we negotiated our deal. Hmmmm.

And to add insult to injury Keystone and Dutchmen are both owned by Thor Industries which is the parent company and one of the largest, if not the largest in the industry. They own a about a dozen companies that produce 30+ different brands of RV's. It is part of a huge consolidation that began around 30 years ago. Forest River and Fleetwood were the other two. Fleetwood went bankrupt back in 2009. They had been around since the 1950's and in 2007 were the largest in the US.

Well, then I hope that's good news. That means they make 1000's of units so reading about 6 or 7 having water leaks..... crossing fingers the actual % is extremely low.

It's here! It's here! I haven't seen it yet because I didn't know about it until after hours (I usually ignore my personal emails during the day so didn't see it). But going to see it tomorrow!! I can't wait!!

Wow, that's a big one! You must have a good-sized family! Take them to Stone Mountain! We loved it, and they have several nice campground options.
