Hello fellow RV'ers from West Florida
I recently bought a used 2006 Dutchmen 28F-DSL pull behind so I am learning all the in's and out's of owning an rv (especially a used one). I got what I feel is a pretty good deal, it seems to be in good shape other than some water damage on the slide that I am in the process of repairing now. I bought it for around 1/3 of the book on this model, and I figure I will have 800-1000 in repairs when I'm done. So I will still have less than half of the book value in the camper when the repairs are completed. However, it is a big learning curve when working on an rv for the first time. I'm hoping to find some help on the forum as I run into issues that I get stumped on. I will try and post some pics of my project so that maybe it will help someone in the future. I have found similar forums to be of immense help to me in the past when working on other projects.
Thanks in advance for the help that I know this forum will provide.

Sounds like you are a "Fix it myself" kind of guy.
In this realm, that outs you way ahead of the game. I bet you DID get a good deal by the time you have it just the way you want it.
Cheers to your first sunset, sippin on your choice of beverage, while enjoying the view.

Thanks for the replies. I am sure I will have plenty of questions, and it is an encouragement knowing there are others on here so willing to help. So far I have the roof membrane and decking pulled off of the slide, I have pulled the fascia off of the inside of the slide. I was hoping to be just repairing the damaged framing, then redeck and reinstall the roof membrane and associated hardware and trim, but as it turns out the beam above the side has damage too. That is going to be a pretty big chore to change it out compared to the roof damage. If any of you have ever made this repair I am all ears. I will take some pics tomorrow and then start a new thread in the General forum.
Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for the offer. I am actually just across the county line on the Walton county side, but we are still pretty close either way. Years ago I knew some Fralicks from Columbia county. Do you have any relatives over that way?

West, I have repaired some RV's that had damage, the main thing is to keep everything Square and take your time. I had one that was hit by a vehicle in the corner, and had to replace the framing and the outside medal, The first time replacing the framing, I made it square, but the flooring was off and I didn't notice, so I had to take everything apart again and start over, If I had taken my time, I would have noticed the first time.....
