2012 Kodiak 300BHSL new delivery

Hey all,
We just picked up our new trailer. However, I have a question. During signing our paperwork we discovered a package that took the dealer a while to figure out.
Essentially we purchased a 300bhsl with the ultimate package which also included a "fall platinum package" for additional cost.

According to the paper from Kodiak the item we are questioning is if our trailer should have came with a Swing out bumper Grill as part of the special fall package. The paper says so, and searches on the net show 25' trailers with the fall package and bumper grill. However the dealer is saying they aren't sure and they think the outside kitchen is what the fall package is. My understanding is the 300bhsl has an out door kitchen standard.

Anyone have any insight on this. We called dutchmen and they said it is a dealer issue and it wouldn't say for sure if it was included or not. I won't go into details on the rest of that conversation but I hope the person was having a bad day.
If I don't get this straightened out by Friday I'm calling the Kodiak area sales rep to see if he knows. It just so happens we met him at the portland rv show this month and he was very informative about the trailer.

Re: 2012 Kodiak 300BHSL new delivery

If you have the name of the area sales rep, then you should call him to set your mind at ease. I do know that these special packages change from time to time and from area to area. What is included in one month may not be the next.
It makes it confusing sometimes for the dealers when they have two TT's on the same lot, with the same "named" package, yet equipped differently.
Best of luck in getting this sorted out.....

Re: 2012 Kodiak 300BHSL new delivery

Yes we kind of learned this the hard way. We went to the RV show and looked at the trailer. We noticed the fold out kitchen had only a cook top. But we didn't like the interior color and opted to go to the dealers lot and liked the interior on the one we bought better. We never opened the outdoor kitchen until our walk through and found that this one has what i term a so called sink??? Yet no water faucets, so Ice bucket? I don't know what it is for. Yet looking at trailers online we have seen several versions of the outdoor kitchen on the 300bhsl.
Oh well, overall we are very happy with the trailer so far. Spent the first night out in our driveway for a trial run.
Note to others looking at this trailer. If you run the heat don't let the kids shut the bunk room door, according to my teenage daughter and i quote, " I sweated so much I woke up and had to check if I pee'd my self"
We only had the heater set at 65 and the bunk room was toasty warm

Our bunk room gets quite warm too if we close the door. Don't recommend it unless you're looking to use it to dry clothes, which we have done!

Re: 2012 Kodiak 300BHSL new delivery

We had a similar experience with our Dutchmen 276RBS. The one we picked first had metal siding and a certain type of kitchen cabinets and shower door. I had a defective slide which need a factory repair so the dealer offer us a fiberglass unit but it had a fold down rear deck on the bumper, different cabinets, different flooring, but no shower door. My wife wanted the shower door! We ended up with a fiberglass unit with no rear deck, same floor, same cabinets, and the same floor as the metal wall unit. It was all dependant on the serial number.

I've seen those frameless windows on the taupe-colored trailers and it looks really nice together!

Congratulations rid415 on your purchase of trailer and hitch. We'll have to share notes as I have exactly the same setup (just put my Andersen on yesterday). We'll also have to share any mods that we make to the trailers. I've already made some changes and have other plans in the works but am waiting for my health to improve. I've added three adjustable shelves to that cabinet below the kitchen sink and two shelves above the windows in the bedroom (our nightstand). We put one of those three drawer plastic cabinets right beside the door for shoes and campfire tools (we removed the bottom drawer to keep the furnace vent open. We hope to get ours out soon. Enjoy your new purchase.

Congrats. I too have the 300BHSL that I took delivery in February 2013. Just wondering if you have had any slide out sticky issues? My main living room slide out is getting stuck going in and out.

rid415, I'll try that silcone spray next time I've got the slides out. Sucks that I worry so much about getting stuck that I am weary to go work on the trailer and stuff.

I carry the can of silicone spray with me all camping season. Depending what the weather is doing, I add a little to the tracks. Something else I've done is purchased two of those slide out supports that help hold up the slide when we are set up. Just don't freak yourself out like I did the first time we were taking down camp and I forgot to remove the supports and started bringing in the slide. I thought I had really broken something when all I'd done was knocked them over.

Please DON'T use any type of silicone spray on your slideouts as they attract dust and contaminants and will eventually add to the problem of improper operation. There are several dry lube sprays that should be used instead which will make a noticeable, positive difference in how your slideout operates. Once a season should be sufficient. On your swing out grill issue, yes that is a part of the Platinum Fall Edition along with the frameless windows, darker colors, etc. But, the so-called outdoor kitchen is then deleted. At least this was the case on our 2012 263RLSL.
