These fans running at 12V will still move at lot of air, but I would be nice to be able to increase it if the need arose.

Have you got a brand name for the boosters you have?

I came across these in my favourite seller of obscure stuff. They are Made in Germany server fans and it seems there's a hockey sock full of them on various web stores.
