The carpet flap is really more decorative than functional. It's main purpose in life is hide the joint, then all they need is installers, not craftsmen.

I had the same idea, just a different approach. I was thinking that one of the multitude of profiles available in plastic mouldings would give it a nice finished look.

It never entered my mind to lay it crossways, I've been mulling over glueing down the first row at the slide and then use the click joint working away from the slide and do the same thing...
