I would suggest that you peel the carpet back as far as needed to expose the wet wood. You want to get the wood dried out as fast as possible, so you don't create a mould pietre dish.

That's the reason we got a camper with slides. Personally I just as soon not have slides, but we couldn't find a floor plan that works...
