Profile update for Location

Just me thinking out loud, don't know if any will agree, but...
Would it be possible for members to update their profiles to include their normal location of home base, even if it's just the state or province.
Here's why I'm suggesting this idea, it could be beneficial when people ask for help or are having problems if the folks that want to help know the general area of the globe that you reside in.
For instance, me living in the great white north (Canada) am completely out of my realm trying to help lets say someone from Florida that has lets say a moisture problem caused by humidity. (our moisture is generally frozen for 3 to 6 months of the year) If I know they live in very humid Florida, I can read the answers that would perhaps be supplied by folks in a similar climate/area and then I will know the answer for when I get there and possibly have the same issues.

Just my .02
Cheers
Daryl B.

Re: Profile update for Location

Daryl,
I'm not complete sure that I understand your question.....we have the option of putting our location in our profile so that it appears to the left of our posts. As yours in BC does....
There are forums out there that have regional sections, but until this forum is more robust with members, I'd like it not to be fragmented that way....

Re: Profile update for Location

Really not a question Glenn,
What I was suggesting in a far too wordy fashion was for users update their profile to include their location as you and I have done. I don't in any way want to segregate this forum into regions.

Re: Profile update for Location

If I follow Daryl correctly, I think he's simply suggesting that members update their location in their profile so other members can tell where they are from. Not a bad idea at all.

It's worth noting that the member list can be searched for location. There is a link on the upper nav bar under "community" but eh advanced search is sort of hard to find. Here's a direct link: Dutchmen Owners - Members List - Search

And then there's the Google map someone created awhile back. Some of us update our positions wherever we go... others just use their home base. Although I'm based out of NC, I'm full-time... and just recently updated my position in south Texas, by Lake Livingston.
