Cool Spring in Wisconsin

We moved from Mirror Lake St Prk to Wyalusing St Prk today. 5 Bald Eagles did a welcoming synchronized flying exhibition for us as we set up our camper.

Later 12 eagles did an encore performance. I lost count at 12. A racoon scurried off as we walked out to Sentinel Point. Squirrels root about in the leaf litter.

It is a beautiful sunny day. There is snow cover in wooded areas. Open fields are clear. Melt water is everywhere.
As I wrote this a second eagle flew by my window. The view across the Wisconsin river is spectacular. There are no other campers in the park.

It is time for all of you to come and join us.

I have Eagles in my own back yard, and see them occasionally driving to/from work. I have lived up here all my life, and in the past year I have seen more than in the previous 53 years, and those were not in the wild either. Eagles are making a huge come back.

We were in Minong last year and saw a nest of at least 5 Eagles next to a rail line about a mile from where I used to camp when I was a kid, never saw eagles back then. Now the resort is completely gone only a scant trace it was ever there, remnants of the oat house and fish cleaning shack and a lonely dilapidated pier, but the Eagles are there!

I did not see any eagles today. I did see first a couple of vultures and then a flock of more than two dozen.
squirrels, ground squirrels, deer, and coyote tracks.

The other day, there were 4 Eagles sitting in a tree in my yard. We thought there may be a pair in the area, but 4 of them! We are afraid our barn cats would be on their menu, we only have 2 left, and are quite fond of them.

There is a U-tube video of a stupid small dog that stood still and barked at the approaching eagle. The neighbors may have felt relieved even if they said nothing.

I really wish you hadn’t mentioned the W word (wyalusing), it’s already too hard to get into there. Be there in 4 weeks. It’s our favorite CG. We were lucky enough to get site 143 once for 11 days in the fall, perfect. How high are the rivers, according to NOAA, they should at least be at minor flood stage. Have a drink while watching the sunset for me please.
