Trailer Brakes Intermittently coming on :(

I have a 2011 Dutchmen Kodiak I just purchased a week ago. I love it but one major issue. I will be towing it with my 2002 quarter ton Chev Silverado with a plug and play prodigy brake controller and out of no where my controller goes from "C" which is the connected indication to numbers showing my brakes are applied and they are as I come to a screeching halt. So I roll back my dial to where they aren't applied and watch the numbers jumping all over the place. If I disconnect and reconnect I can go a while before it will do it again. Any idea what this might be?

One thing I had to do when I first bought the trailer was run a new ground off my 7 pin connector since my ground wasn't working when I bought the trailer, could this be the issue.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I can help with your question, but wanted to say welcome to the forum. Is this a new controller? I also use the Prodigy and I haven't had a single issue with it, perhaps you got/have a bad unit.

Sounds like a wiring problem and I would think that is with the trailer.

Use a multimeter to check for continuity on your new ground. If it is good I would then check the trailer wiring from the brakes forward. If the trailer wiring checks out as good, continue forward to the truck.

Good luck, wiring problems can be tough to find and need to be traced from one end to the other
