4WD will slightly reduce your weight carrying capacity, adds cost, and complexity (more things to break). I have it as our driveway is very steap, and we live on a mountain. It's come in handy pulling up the driveway, and especially when pulling our boat out of the woods driveway, and up onto the road. That's about the only time I use/need it. I don't drive my truck in the winter snow/salt unless absolutely necessary. So if you don't think you really need it, save the money and complexity.

When we purchased our 3605 the dealer said it was the largest camper we could safely tow with a srw truck. At the time, we had a 2012 F-250 srw diesel with airbags and it worked fine except having to pump up the airbags enough to get to level, which stiffened up the ride more than we liked. A year ago we traded for a new 2016 F-350 srw diesel, now I don't need the airbags, with the camper hooked up it sits level, it drops it down on the overloads and the ride is so much better and it handles a lot better too. The F-350 under carriage and suspension is a lot beefier than the 250.

As far as 4 wheel drive I'd say where you live and will tow you probably don't need it, where I live, if we get a snowstorm I can't even back out of the garage without it.

I posted this before but it really explains the difference in single and dually trucks:

On the subject of 4x4... it is a tool. Do you "need" it? Depends on your specific situation. You will have to determine if it is worth the cost to you. I have had both types of trucks. My OTR trucks typically don't have 4x4, my farm trucks do. I took a 5th wheel out to AZ for a buddy of mine. His truck happened to be a 4x4 F250 PSD. The site I was placing it in out there was uphill and on a slight turn. I engaged the 4x4 and it made life a lot easier. I could have gotten it in there with a 4x2, but why use a tack hammer when you have a sledge hammer handy.

Yep, In all my years of towing I've needed the 4x4 several times. Wet grass, loose gravel, and slick mud. Encountering those obstacles on a turning maneuver can ruin a good day. The times I needed it made it well worth having it.
