When we purchased our 3605 the dealer said it was the largest camper we could safely tow with a srw truck. At the time, we had a 2012 F-250 srw diesel with airbags and it worked fine except having to pump up the airbags enough to get to level, which stiffened up the ride more than we liked. A year ago we traded for a new 2016 F-350 srw diesel, now I don't need the airbags, with the camper hooked up it sits level, it drops it down on the overloads and the ride is so much better and it handles a lot better too. The F-350 under carriage and suspension is a lot beefier than the 250.
As far as 4 wheel drive I'd say where you live and will tow you probably don't need it, where I live, if we get a snowstorm I can't even back out of the garage without it.
