How do folks with kayaks haul in hauler

I have a 3200 10 foot box. I want to buy two kayaks for the summer. What is the best way to haul them?

Will you be carrying anything else besides the kayaks? Single kayaks should ride on a padded floor just fine if the length is OK. I haul a 13 foot Ocean Malibu II and golf cart in a 12 foot garage. Luckily I have a pass-through door on the driver’s side that it fits through nicely.

Ours is a tandem which is why it's so long, I believe you can find singles that would fit.

If I buy any bigger I have to put it in at a angle or right in the middle to use the door. Kind of a mess if you want to haul anything else.

I built a rack out of PVC pipe to hold two kayaks one on top of the other. I left a few feet of pipe extended on top to keep the top kayack in place. When out of the TH at a camp or home, flip the rack over, and it keeps both kayaks off the ground. With a 10' garage, you'll only be able to fit ones just over 9'. We also travel with a motorcycle, two bicycles, and a washer/dryer combo in the garage. I can try and get a picture latter if you want.

Here is my 3200 loaded for the weekend. 2 kayaks (under 10'), 2 bikes, bbq, moped, plus some.

I built a PVC rack and put 14" wheels on it so I can wheel it in and out of the garage.

My rack is similar to soonernation's with no wheels, and I extended the top supports so it can be flipped over and used as an outdoor kayack rack.

The rack is turned sideways in the pic so both inside doors can open. While traveling, it gets pushed against the driver's side wall, bicycles get strapped to the rack, and motorcycle goes on the right. Washer/dryer is at center front.

The goal with the next iteration is have the kayaks at 45° so the rack is narrower and leaves more floor space. There's plenty of room to go higher, floor space is at a premium.

Is that 2 inch pipe? Since I'm going to make it, should I try and go with the 45 angle as you suggested? I'm not to sporty and making things....haha

I'm pretty sure I used 1-3/4" pipe. The 45 degree angle bit is a good idea.

The wheels also make this rack handy for when I remove the kayaks from the garage area and store them in my garage at home. We don't take them every weekend. Once I wheel them in, I strap them down and they don't go anywhere.
