Ford 25k Factory Hitch Putting Back In

Hi Everyone, I had to haul some wood home this weekend and decided to take out my hitch, well guess what... Now I'm not sure how it goes back in, Is there a front and a back? I took the top off as well so I'm not sure if you can put it back on wrong or not.
Thanks for any help...
Sorry for the green horn question... Mike

Hey there realniceguy,

When you say Ford 25k Factory Hitch, what hitch exactly are we talking about.

When I bought my 2013 F350 I had Ford install my Fifth Wheel Hitch. It is a Reese Elite 25k installed by Ford. If you have the same hitch I will take a couple of pictures and upload them for you.

When I removed mine the first time I went through the same thing. I have since marked mine with a center punch.

Signed......not that darn nice, but trying.......

Hi Arlan,
Yes I have the 25K Reese Elite. Once I get it back together again I'll be sure to mark it somehow as well, thanks again for your time.

Here ya go.

Together..................

Apart..............

The springs lean to the rear when you drop the fifth wheel plate on the hitch.

I marked mine with a center punch. Just a single punch mark on each piece.

Now that you've got your answer, I'm gonna hijack your thread to say that I've got a brand new one of those sitting in my garage that I'd like to sell. It came with my truck, but I already had the B&W 5th wheel from my F-250.

So if anyone needs one... make me a decent offer.

Hey Arlan, I just notice your fifth wheel plate has the same grove in it as mine does. Do you use one of those grease plates?

I Just noticed the groove and had to say something.

Doesn't everyone but truckers use them. To bad they can't come up with something the same for regular trailer balls. Can't tell you how many times I've gotten grease on my pants from those.

Hi Arlan,
Yep that is the one I have or pretty close.

When I looked at your pictures again, I just thought you may have been in my garage taking pictures of my own hitch.

Just seems a little odd to have almost the same grove in the top plate.

HI DesertRat,
You would think everyone would use them, but I have a buddy that still soaks his hitch with grease... I have to put on plumbers gloves anytime he wants help taking it out of his truck. His hitch is not as kool as mine, as he still has some rails in his truck, where I just have 4 plugs to pop in the holes after my hitch comes out.

Maybe he will change his ways one day and get the plate...

I remember the days of tow behinds and every single time I got grease on my pants, legs, hands and even my seats... I'm with you someone needs to come up with a better way...

Its back together in my garage ,

The wife wanted me to pick up more stuff from Lowes and Home Depot so when the weather breaks she will be ready for planting her flowers. I also had 10 kennels to pickup and put together for all our dogs.
This past weekend it looked like winter was over, then last night it snowed again and the temp went down to 20

I'll be putting it back in the truck shortly as I have someone coming over soon to level out my parking spot for the voltage.
Then I can auto level the beast I'm not even going to attempt to try and auto level this thing again till my spot is level. Lesson learned...

Anyway thanks again for the help...
Mike
