EQ. hitch w/air bags-yes or no

The wife and I almost bought a 2014 Aerolite 288RLS yesterday. Loved it and will most likely go back for it. We currently own an Aljo 2210, weighing 4100 dry. The Aerolite comes in at 6000 dry. We have a 2010 Ford F150 supercrew 5.4. I'll be installing air bags in the rear this week, and am wondering if I should still use the w/d hitch if the truck has factory sway control. The bags will keep it up where it belongs. Thanks

In my opinion yes. You are adding almost 2000 pounds and 6 feet of length. Airbags help with sag not control. You have it, so why not use it.

My vote is yes for reasons stated above and in addition, the equalizer also will put weight back on the front tires that will be taken away from the 600-800lb tounge weight.

Our Kodiak weighs in at 6700 pounds loaded. I did not add airbags to my F150. Instead I replaced the factory rubber pads in the bottom leaf with a thicker pad. Helped to reduce axle shimmy on takeoff and raised the rear about an inch or so. Really helped with the Equal-i-zer setup too.

X3

Mainly for the reason stated above, to maintain a proper tire patch on the road and not unload the steering axle.

Take too much weight off your front end and you will think your driving on ice.

We have a 2008 Land Rover LR3 with air suspension and tow a 2014 Kodiak 240BHSL. When we bought it last year the dealer contacted Land Rover about the towing set up and Land Rover was emphatic in saying not to use a weight distribution hitch. Not sure why??? Anyway we left with a sway controller installed and the correct height ball. The system tows perfectly level and no problems at all. We've easily got 10K miles of towing on it by now.
