Not to sound like a broken record here but there is a huge temperature difference between EGT at the turbo and at the DPF...Yes, monitoring somewhere is better than nothing but the point of monitoring EGT is to protect the turbo, not the DPF. EGT at the DPF is an emissions control thing.

I have a pre and post turbo EGT and the temp difference pre and post is 300+ degrees depending on load and fueling setting I am running. So the drop at the DPF is bound to be much more.

Don,

I immediately regret mentioning all the post turbo sensors....even though I specifically stated such...EVERYONE!! Listen to what Don is saying, yes, on my stock truck, I find the post turbo sensors good enough, IF you are going to change anything to get more power, you will need a pre turbo sensor....you definitely do not want to cook your turbo. There are limits...my old turbo had a limit of 1400 degrees continuous for 30 seconds and 1300 continuous for 60 seconds (IIRC)...

Well said, Cale. Just don't want anyone getting their tow vehicle. Bowing out of the thread...

Don....don't ever regret giving GOOD advice

After much consideration I am going to put the new CTS2 on the Dodge and install a pre-turbo sensor. Going to cost a few extra bucks but peace-of-mind is huge while out on the road Just like putting on the Continental 17.5 tires....pay me now or pay me later!
