E-Z Pass
Thinking about getting an E-Z Pass, but wanted input on using it while towing a 5er. I see a lot of different posts all with different stories. Some say yes, some no, some say you need to register as commercial, etc. Does anyone have experience using these while towing and most states are the same. I will mostly be using it in Pa., Oh., In., and Il.

So will you have a pass that you use just for when you are towing? You must do a lot! Good for you, have fun.

I just use the same pass I've always carried in my truck... just got back from spending a month moving around up there... no problems at all.

E-Z-Pass is an automated toll system utilized, I think, primarily in the northeast US.

I have EZ Pass for my wife's automobile that will not catch the axles of a trailer. I have an EZ Pass for my tow vehicle. My tow vehicles' EZ Pass is able to catch the extra axles when towing the trailer though the toll booths. Semi's are different then the one that I have due to the amount of axles.
Driving from Maine to Florida and back, the only place it didn't seem to work was on the Sun-Pass in Florida. I believe that the EZ Pass is suppose to work in Florida. I don't know that for sure .
It's a beautiful thing not stopping at toll booths. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the input. I called 5 states today and everyone says just hookup the 5er and it will work fine. The one exception sems to be Va. I was told there you need two devices one when towing and one when not.
Just to further explain E-Z Pass yes it is and automated toll system but it also discounts the fees. You Los don't have to stop at the booths.

I believe EZ-Pass works everywhere a Sun-Pass works. Sun-Pass does not work everywhere an EZ-Pass works.
I used to live in FL and this info is from 3 years ago.

We live in Indiana and frequent the toll road to Chicago and or Ohio. We have the Illinois "I pass" because it does not charge a service fee if not used. The Indiana "Ez pass" I think charges 5 bucks a month if not used in that month. So be sure to read all the fine print.
