I think Ford will stick with their Ecoboost engines for the F-150. Need to move up to a 250 or larger to get a diesel. I love my 6.7l diesel F-350

If looking for a 1/2 ton diesel I'd pick the new Nissan Titan
I think the 3.3l diesel would work fine in an F-150. I drove one of the Rangers when I was in the Bahamas for work. Great little truck. There are a crap loaf of them in Mexico too. Believe they were built in Argentina. I had a 1994 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder that went 300,000 miles with minimal issues. Ditto a lot of my F150's, F250's and F350's. I would have loved to have diesels in all of them. Except maybe my 1978 F250 Camper Special that had a 460 in it. That thing would pass everything on the road but a gas station.

It's $120 just for the oil and filter, I don't know if they include a fuel filter with it or not, it takes 11 quarts of some fancy synthetic.

The Ranger is coming back in 2018, I guarantee there will be a diesel in it. Ford has no choice with the Colorado/Canyon selling so well. Not everybody wants a 30ft log pickup truck.

I did a lot of research and went with the ECO Diesel as I camp around the US all year long. When I am not towing, I get 28-29 MPG -- doing the speed limit. If I run the engine around 75-85, I get 25-27 MPG. When I am towing, I average between 18-24 MPG, depending on grade, wind, weight, etc. For me, it is a perfect truck to tow my 25 FT ASPEN Trail (7600 LBs), and it is just my wife and I.

I did go to ORW while in San Diego and had air bag shocks installed for $800 and it rides like a Dodge 2500.

While at Julian, I had to back my camper onto a 7% grade in the rain and had no problem. Did not have to put it in 4WD.

All the best,

JIM
