That is one of my complaints too, they are too tall. I have bad hips and climbing in and out of one is painful. I like my Platinum F150 as it has the power running boards and I can basically just walk right in and sit down.

Looks like the next Ram will have the 1500 interior too. Still waiting on reliability and corrosion results, as well as crash testing to see if FCA has resolved the rotting fenders issues.

I'm looking at upgrading our RV to a DRV Mobile suites and going full time. Thinking a 450 with a major towing package (dualie) is what we will need to haul the beast and a run-around car behind the RV.

If you call a 16K+ pound Live in horse trailer with a 3200 pound pin weight modestly sized. It may be even heavier, that is a Lakota Big Horn 4 horse. Haven't been able to find the exact model, but they are not light weight trailers.

I have a friend who has a similar trailer, 17,100K loaded with 2 horses and water, 4600 pound pin weight.

I do like the looks of a Tundra! Am leaning towards a Chevy 2500HD 6.0L but my options are still open.

I love it. May upgrade to a diesel someday. If you are buying a new gas vehicle it's a great TV

Well, I finally made my decision and bought a 2019 RAM 1500 5.7 Big Horn with the 3.92 gears. Love this truck!

2019 Ram 1500 w/factory tow package. 5.7 HEMI, 3.92 axle - 2014 Kodiak @ 5600 actual loaded pounds (ya, I weighed it).
Zero issues. Tows like a dream, 9mpg while towing, 17 mpg running free with mixed driving, 22 mpg running free on the freeway.

Dually definitely for the Mobile Suites. I thought I heard that while the 450 has a tighter turning radius than the 350 due to a different front axle, the payload is less(?). Never checked it out, so I don't know. Good call on the Mobile Suites!

Nice rig! Looks like you are in the 1500 towing weight sweet spot.

Thanks! yes, the truck is rated a little over 11,000 so it handles the trailer well. The trailer was represented to me as half-ton tow-able and they were right-on.
When I picked it up I had not yet acquired a load-leveling hitch so I just used a trailer ball.. that 120 mile ride on I-10 3am and rain... not fun. Every time a truck passed me was an experience (they all ignore the 55mph speed limit and are usually up around 70.)
Load Leveling and a sway-bar makes it behave like a kitten...

For my 2 cent input.. I had a Silverado 1500 work truck with a tow package and a 4.3 litre 6 cylinder engine, with 6 speed tranny and it pulled my TT rather well over level ground.
We went to maine last summer and the best I could do going up some of the steeper hills was 40 MPH with the engine at 4000 rpm. Traded my work truck I in for a 2019 Silverado LT with a 5.3L V8 and an 8 speed tranny and tow package and it pulls my TT like its not even there.
My TT weighs in at 6,000 lbs fully loaded. Had it weighed at a truck stop last summer. Couldn't be happier.
Happy and safe travels.

I messed around for years and continually upgraded my tow rig as I continually upgraded my RV. The one thing that will never change is the towing ability of the tow rig you buy. Have a look at the following spreadsheet (excel doc) it figures out you calculation for you once you have the basic info for both your two rig and RV. It covers GVW, GCVW, towing capacity, as well as payload, all of these come into play if you are towing and want to remain legal. maybe this will help you make a decision.

http://bit.ly/payload-calc-download.

all you have to do is enter all the info and it will give you a green check or red x if you are good or bad. Up to you.

the spreadsheet (excel doc) and more info about determining towing limits is available in this youtube link:
https://youtu.be/qwFLOBrADBs

Best of luck with your decision and enjoy your purchase.

I guess my Platinum EB can tow pretty well. My trailer weighs in at 6600 pounds, and it has no problem pulling it. The problem with the 3.5EB is it will hold the speed limit towing up the IKE, but generates a LOT of heat doing so. I made the mistake of having the cruise on and didn't realize I had hit the first grade since the truck didn't slow down, it just kept going, but then I got a warning of overheat. OOPS. Turned the cruise off, and downshifted a gear to raise the RPM's and that took care of the heat problem. It stayed in 5th going up the first grade while holding 65 MPH towing my Coleman on a 98* day. That was my 2014, I haven't gone up the IKE yet with my 2018 Gen2 with 10 speed, it would more than likely pull it with ease without overheating since it is even stronger, though I won't ever try since I have a Superduty now that makes the 1/2 ton a wimp. Trailer? What trailer?
