Oh on the battery disconnect......just make sure that if you use or plan on using more than one battery, you get one that will handle multi batteries.

If they are connected in series, then all you need is one. Connect at last battery to ground.

A battery disconnect is a very basic switch and not nearly as likely to be 'bad' as it is that the actual problem, which is more likely to be one of the many sensors, cameras, or outside stereo control etc. that are always on and others have found to bypass and thereby render ineffective the factory's installation of a (probably ok) kill switch.

I installed a second battery disconnect that REALLY shuts the battery off. The factory is useless as it still allows some items to function ultimately draining the battery..I put mine just above the battery on the wall.. simple and easy.. you can get one at any marine store or most auto parts stores not to mention camping stores

It. Makes me crazy that those items are still running with the factory disconnect off. Where can I get instructions on replacing it?

i had the same problem.. you do not need to replace the factory switch. you will still have the same problem if you do.. you need to install a new one right at the battery on the side wall. It is very simple to install. You can find them at any marine supply or even automotive stores.

I have one on the main battery and another on the aux battery. Both connected on the neg side of the battery.

Amazon

After 4+ years of owning our camper and stessing about having it plugged in or removing the batteries if I stored it to long I finally installed a battery Disconnect. Best thing I ever did. I used this one. With my 2 battery setup it was extremely simple. YouTube was a great help

LOL... guess I'm old fashion. I just keep a wrench in the battery compartment and disconnect the black wire when storing... Cheap and effective.

Does bring up a question. Do any of use to a solar trickle charger to keep it charged during non-use??

I installed a 100 watt solar panel, installed it permanently, I use an IP-66 solar charge controller. WORKS PERFECTLY and 100 watts is enough to keep my security system running also.

Anybody know if there is a battery disconnect switch on a Dutchmen Aspen Trail? I looked but didn't see one.

I have an Aspen Trial there is no switch that disconnects the battery entirely. I am not sure if there is any factory switch as they do not really disconnect completely.

Thank you. I was afraid what was there was different than what I was envisioning and I had missed it.
