Any suggestions for aftermarket recliner chairs?
Well, after our first summer of camping in the trailer it has become clear that the furniture in these things are crap. Most uncomfortable beasts, like sitting on rocks. Even though we like to spend most of our time outdoors, there are times when it is necessary to be inside.
Our trailer configuration (kodiak 241 rbsl) has a dinette on one side and a fold-out couch on the slide side. We actually found the dinette a lot more useful than we thought we would, there are local reupholster folks so that won't be a problem to have them fill the cushions with more than the couple of inches of the existing pebbles in there now.
I'm thinking I'm going to pull out the very uncomfortable couch and replace it with two small recliners. I did a quick google search and the rv recliner products available seem to use gold thread or something, they want thousands of dollars. Seems unreasonable.
Just wondered if anyone else has done this and found a more economical solution. I'm not in a big hurry, this will be a winter project so I can afford to shop around.

I replaced the dinette benches in our first TH with Forest River "Captain's" chairs. A very nice rocker with arms. Can either be bolted to the floor or moved out of the way to get the RZR in.
I think they were $900 for the pair.
Here's a "not the best" pic of the chairs, small table we put between them, and the dinette table we still used with one chair on each side:

Thanks Pirate, those look excellent, I will look them up. You've also got me considering my plan to leave the dinette as is, I could probably come up with a decent floor plan and free up more space with chairs that can move around.

I have a very small TT and desired a compact recliner but was not willing to compromise on comfort and quality.
Folks around here pointed me in the right direction and after researching and then sitting in lots of chairs, I ended up with, for my needs, the perfect recliner. Very narrow because of the design, efficient on wall-behind space requirements, and awesome LazyBoy mechanism.

Don,
And with the two Shockwave captains chairs and the small table between them...much easier for us both to watch TV and relax at the end of the day!!!

Snake,
Nice chair, did you get the wall-a-way or get the feet higher than the heart, mechanism.
Our leather LazyBoy love seat is now in it's second camper and in the Colorado , I borrowed the goucho bed design from our old Airstream.

Wall-away Jim.
It'll lay almost flat when completely reclined. Head just slightly tilted.
And yea, the bed was originally a King Size extending out into the floorspace that is now my reading room.
Measurements revealed the width of that ginormous mattress was almost exactly the length of a full size. (non USA full)
Admittedly I can touch the wall with my feet if I stretch out. But I don't actually sleep that way. So it's been all gain. With much easier access to the cabinetry, as a bonus.

Thanks guys, sounds good. As it's starting to get close to freezing temps at night here, looks like I'll be buttoning up soon. That will give me plenty (too much) of time to think of a redesign and procure some furniture we can actually use without requiring physio.

I will be replacing mine after this season with a RecPro-Charles-67-Double-RV-Zero-Wall-Hugger-Recliner-Sofa-w-Console. Also in the $900 range It will fit perfectly in the slide.

Voltage owner here. We replaced our crappy sofa with our electric recliner sofa from our living room in our home. It was a great fit.. very comfortable and nice to relax in.. I put the crappy sofa in the attic until i sell the unit.. The crappy will go back in or give it to the new owners. It's much heavier but what is another 150 pounds/??

What model camper do you have? My slide is 72" wide so it will fit easily, but i'm at 35" to the bottom of the windows and valances, and the couch says 39".
